Can you use AC Pro on any car?
Your car was built before 1994 and has never been converted from R-12 to R-134a. However, if you do have an old R-12 system, you can’t use A/C Pro until it’s been converted to R-134a. (All cars built since 1994 will have R-134a systems, which is what A/C Pro is designed for.)
Will R134a work in a R12 system?
In order to legally use R134a refrigerant in an R12 system, it must be converted or retrofitted to be able to properly use R134a, and all R12 must be properly discharged and captured prior to charging with R134a.
How long does it take for AC Pro to work?
Systems with moderate to large leaks could eventually depressurize again and may still need a mechanic’s help. A/C Pro tells us that for the vast majority of systems, this simple recharge should be enough. All in, prepping, measuring, and recharging the system took me about 30 minutes.
Where is the AC low side service port?
The low side service valve is located in the line that runs from the compressor through the evaporator (firewall) and up to the condensor on the low pressure (suction) side of the system.
Will AC Pro hurt my car?
The delicate components of your car’s A/C compressor and other aspects of the system can sustain damage from the stop leak included in most DIY A/C recharge kits. In order to plug up small leaks in the system that may have leaked refrigerant, a stop leak compound is included in these kits.
Why is R12 illegal?
In conclusion folks R-12 Freon was banned due to the damage that it caused to the Ozone layer. The Chlorine found in CFC refrigerants like R-12 would not break down in the atmosphere when vented or leaked. The Chlorine would then erode the Ozone bit by bit.
Is it illegal to release R134a into the air?
R134a is not an ozone-destroying agent, but it is a greenhouse gas, and is illegal to vent as well.
Does AC Pro expire?
Post: There are no expiration dates on your products.
Will Freon leak without cap?
Schrader core valves that are inside these service ports can leak, even with a schrader valve cap. It’s not a guarantee you’ll see a leak for a couple of reasons. The refrigerant may have already leaked out.
How long should AC Pro last?
So, how long does an AC recharge last? Your air conditioning is not something that runs constantly, so unless you live in a very hot climate, you can usually expect a recharge to last at least three years.
