What is the maximum fare on the tube?
We set maximum times for all pay as you go journeys on the Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and National Rail services. If you spend longer than the maximum journey time, you could be charged two maximum fares. A single maximum fare is: up to £8.60 in Zones 1-9.
Can 2 people use the same contactless card on the tube?
Touch your Oyster card in at the start of your journey and touch out at the end on yellow card readers to pay the right fare. Two people can’t use the same contactless or Oyster card for a journey. If you have a Travelcard, Bus & Tram Pass or discount added to your Oyster card, you can’t lend it to someone else.
Can I use any contactless card on tube?
Anyone with a contactless debit or credit card can use it to pay for travel in London. It’s ideal if you don’t have or want an Oyster card. Your card is used the same way as an Oyster card – you tap in and out at the tube or train station ticket barriers or tap the yellow card reader when you get on a bus.

Underground trains generally run between 5am and midnight, Monday to Saturday, with reduced operating hours on Sunday.
