What do you get for completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award?
When you achieve your Bronze or Silver Award you will be given a DofE badge and certificate by your Licensed Organisation (LO)/centre. When you achieve your Gold Award you will receive the badge or brooch from your LO or centre. You can choose between a badge or a brooch, which comes in a velvet pouch.
How much is Gold Duke of Edinburgh?
The DofE endeavours to keep your costs down so the current Welcome Pack, which includes the participation fee, is £23.00 for the Bronze Award, £23.00 for Silver and £30.00 for Gold.
Is Duke of Edinburgh Gold Hard?
DofE expeditions are supposed to be challenging, so you will find it hard. You may even feel like giving up at some point during your expedition. But you will have your team mates to encourage and help you get through, and at the end the sense of achievement and good memories will definitely outweigh the low points.
What happens when you finish gold DofE?
On completion of your Gold programme, you must complete the Gold Award Form on eDofE. Forms submitted through eDofE will be sent for approval automatically. Printed forms should be sent to your Leader who will sign it and send it to your Licensed Organisation and DofE Regional/ Country office to authorise.
Can you do gold Duke of Edinburgh without silver?
You can complete the Gold DofE award without having completed Silver, however it will take longer (it doesn’t make a difference if you’ve completed Bronze). Check out my Complete guide to timescales on DofE for more information.
Who pays for the Duke of Edinburgh Award?
Through the Licensed Organisation (LO) young people (or their parents / carers) pay for a Participation Place and are supported by Leaders who support them through their programmes, helping them to choose their activities, set their objectives and achieve their Award.
Can you do Duke of Edinburgh on your own?
DofE Direct is a direct way for 18-23 year olds to achieve their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award online and independently without the need to attend weekly sessions at a local DofE centre.
Is Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award worth it?
I also think that DofE Gold helps prepare you for university life, by replicating university experiences. Like going away from home, on your own, and interacting with a group of your peers. So, if you’ve got the time, and you can afford to do so, I would wholeheartedly recommend DofE Gold.
How useful is gold DofE?
DofE is about helping you along the path to a productive and prosperous future. As many of our participants say, it’s life-changing. Achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and an edge over others when you apply for college, university or a job.
