Why do I have oil gas blowing out of the breather on my Kohler Eng?
The over filled oil/gas then blows out the breather tube. It happens a lot, especially if the engine has sat idle for a time. Usually it’s the float valve in the carburetor that’s leaking. Take the carb apart, clean it up and reseat the float valve.
Is synthetic oil good for Kohler Engines?
You can use synthetic oil in your Kohler engine but you need to use standard oil, 10W-30/SAE 30 or 5W-20/5W-30, in new or rebuilt engines for the first 50 hours of use before switching to synthetic oil.
What kind of oil goes in a Kohler?
*Although 10W-40 engine oil is the recommended oil for most conditions, the oil viscosity may need to be changed to accommodate seasonal temperature changes. Using 20W-50 oil in higher ambient temperatures may reduce oil consumption.
How much oil does a 27 hp Kohler engine hold?
Oil Capacity (refill) 1.6-1.8 L (1.7-1.9 U.S. qt.)
What does a Kohler breather separator do?
Kohler small engine breathers help ventilate the combustion gases in your engine. They also relieve pressure within the crankcase. A common causes of poor engine performance are worn out or clogged breathers.
How many hours will a Kohler 27 HP last?
Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news however, The Courage engine will more than likely never even get close to 2000 hrs. If you take really good care with how hard you run it and how frequent you change the oil and use synthetic oil you may get another 500 to 700 hrs.
What causes Kohler engine backfire?
Why do Kohler engines backfire? A bad exhaust valve or too lean a fuel mixture will also cause an engine to backfire. Backfires occur when burning fuel enters the engine or the exhaust. If pockets of unspent fuel enter the engine before the valves close or escape to the exhaust system, a backfire occurs.
What happens when a crankcase breather goes bad?
Oil leaks Oil leaks are one of the symptoms most commonly associated with a bad crankcase vent filter. Over time, the filter can get dirty and restrict the air flow, and therefore pressure relieving capacity of the system. If the pressure builds too high, it can cause gaskets and seals to blow causing oil leaks.
